Description

On our way south this fall we spent a lovely bit of time at the Kearney State Recreation Area in Nebraska. This pond, with its rustic bridge, was just behind our campsite. It was late enough in the season that we had the whole campground basically to ourselves, and there was a historic Oregon Trail fort next door for Bill to play in. Such a beautiful stop, and a good time. Today is Bill's 75th birthday! Nobody believes it, because he looks so good, but it's true. :P Happy Birthday, Bill!

Thanks Hon. I remember this place just like it was yesterday! Hey, that's not bad for a 75 year old...wouldn't you say?

This photo contains many of my favorite things...early morning light, a natural landscape, a beautiful reflection, still water, tall prairie grass and great composition. I'll soon be raising my coffee cup in salute to you and all my friends on Renderosity. Here's to lots more photos and lots more years:-) xxo

ooh, a beautiful tranquil shot of a small place that feels very big. Beautiful reflections and play with the plant life floating on the water. And that low, low bridge. And you lined it all up with those beautiful gold grasses in the background, making it a layered shot. Beautiful colors and a beautiful, gentle sweep...and perfect for your wonderful husband, and the wonderful relationship you two have. I see he loved it!. This photo evokes a different, much simpler era in a very appealing way. No signage, no electricity, no machines - none of the myriad distractions of the modern world. Okay, maybe somewhat ironic since it was taken with a digital camera & posted on a community website, but still...

Happy Birthday Bill! 75 is a milestone (but also just a number) - I hope to be as fit & mentally acute as you are when I reach that age (I have about 10 years to go).

To me this is going home. Somewhere over that bridge is a cozy cabin with a roaring fire (in the fireplace). This has all the elements of a photo Bill would love and he said as much. Happy birthday, Bill. I hope the day was a great one. And BTW - 75 is not that old now days. Or as Mae West once said, "Age is just a question of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it don't matter."

This bridge looks also, hmm ... let me see, about the same age or maybe even older - who knows and who cares ? - but what a classic, very natural and organic looking design, it has everything one would need when crossing it, to keep one from getting wet feet ;)) does that sound right Tara ? I mean in the 'olden days' gentlemen just offered to spread their coats, but this wouldn't quite cover - but that sounds just about as romantic as one can get ... LOL, wait a minute - where am I heading with this ? my point was, what a lovely surprise and present for Bill and I do wish him all my best for a fine celebration of another Birthday ! I am impressed with your find Tara, so serene.
