My corporeal form lives with my wonderful wife and six eccentric cats in beautiful Sedgefield, but my dreaming body is frequently elsewhere, exploring the fractal universe and marveling at nature's chaos. I love traveling to places that exist only as mathematical constructs on my computer and bringing back snapshots that sometimes remind me of the real world (whatever that means), sometimes of metamagical worlds we can visit only in our imaginations. I trained as a biologist and run a small company specialising in science publishing - writing, editing, illustrating and typesetting. For 3D world building I use Vue, Daz Studio and Poser, but I've also used Bryce since version 2 and done some work with Terragen, Carrara and Groboto. For technical illustration I use mainly Illustrator and Photoshop.
Thanks for visiting my little corner of Renderosity, and to everyone who has kindly commented on my images or added my works as a favourite, thank you for that too. Craig.

First, it's great to see you back! (You missed the earthquake of the RR 'revolution'.) A delightful surprise to see you here again. Second, it's great to see you back with this image. I'll get to that in a second...Third, thank you for your wonderful and caring comment, I appreciated it tremendously, Craig. Truly, many thanks. Fourth, you're entering summer. (That's not really a "fourth," but I had to say it, as I still think this whole "hemisphere" thing is a hoax.) (There's no equator, right? Come on. There's probably some cheap tape down there, which has worn out by now---leaving that grungy residue which sticks to shoes---and some pseudo scientist talking about the tilt of the earth on its "axis," wink-wink. There's no axis, you know it and I know it: There's a big pole sticking up through the top and bottom of the earth, and a few signs around Guatemala or something. But that's it.) But that is neither here nor there. I LOVE this image! I LOVE it! You made a childrens' book illustration. You really are an artist! I love the painterly techniques, the flat brush areas mixed with the more intense ones. I love the empty landscape with just enough touches to make it full. (Ie, the foreground darkening, the background brush or trees.) I love your framing, rough-edged like it was painted on handmade paper. And the gestures of your animals. The lion is definitely saying "get lost"---but he/she (a she because of the lack of a mane?) could also be saying, "I was thinking: did you leave the gas on again? 'cause you have that habit, and it's costing us a fortune..." And the elephant is having a good laugh. Great postures/attitudes in these characters. And if you're doing these from scratch, you really can draw animals. This is marvelous, Craig. I gotta come back and catch up on some others of yours. However much or little time your back here for, it's always great to see you back. And when Tara sees this, she'll probably think of a tale. (I hope she'll do better than I did.) A thoroughly wonderful image. A sheer delight!

There's definitely a conversation going on here! As Mark says, it would make a wonderful illustration for a children's book. I love the post work you did. And gosh, it's good to see you again! :)
