This disappeared in the RR "changeover"...
The dog is contemplating the meaning of life, btw. His name is Jean-Pierre. The man, I don't know; but he's wearing a beret, and I think he likes to read Sartre. The leash represents the existential dilemma of modern civilization. And the mustache? I don't know. All I know is, this guy needs help...
I've posted 2 million pieces since returning, and I'm very grateful for your coming here and commenting on my work. It's above and beyond the call of duty: Thank you, everyone!
Have a fine Friday!

LOL! I was just having a conversation yesterday afternoon with a couple friends about "art bullshit." I had written an art blurb for a quilt we'd made that was about hip deep, so they knew what I was talking about. This fits right in! Oh ... unless you were serious about the leash.
:D

Lovely pie you certainly do have the patter . the gift o the gab my friend it takes me back to when I was young artist red berry and the van dyke beard sitting around talking the meaning of life, reading all those philosophers sounding cool and and hip!! Nice one Mark!!

I think the dog has just realized that the leash is not actually attached, and he has been free to leave all along, hence his puzzled expression! I love your sketches, Mark!

I am reminded of the drawings of Richard Stine.
"The leash represents the existential dilemma of modern civilization." Of course, the eternal choice of modern humanity, free or slave. As Denise pointed out, the dog has been free to leave all along but freedom can be scary.
"And the mustache?" The man is obviously hiding his true self behind the mustache.
Fun stuff, Mark. You may have a future as a cartoonist.

Very interesting work.

2 million pieces? Hyperbole at its most extreme. Another scintillating sketch, Mark, this one reflecting on the existential philosophy of Jean-Paul Sartre. And, it appears that Jean-Pierre has had his fill of escargot, frog legs and red wine.
