Description
We had just enough time to unpack and see a news story or two on the BBC when it was time to meet in the hotel lobby for dinner. I had expected we would be back on the bus but our tour operator had other plans. We would be going to dinner in taxis.....vintage taxis.
Clockwise from top right:
1958 Ford Edsel, 1955 Ford Fairlane, 1951 Chevrolet Styleline DeLuxe Bel Air,
1953 Chevrolet Two-Ten Convertible, 1955 Chevy Belair, 1952 Chevrolet Deluxe customized.

Re Tom's comment, I never heard the name 'ragtops', lol. Great term for a convertible! (I looked it up.) And re Andrea, lol at "today's rubbish". I don't know a lot about cars, but boy those old models had a round beauty that was a big dessert to the senses. You even got an Edsel! (Wasn't that one of the big flops in American automotive history? Don't go by me, I could be wrong!) Well, you may feel that these shots are mainly to convey the cars, and the joy of seeing them. But you got real sheen, fine angles on most of them, fine contrast between cars and that rock-fence background. And fine light too. You got the 'personality' of these beasts. Man, Cuba must be a haven for our cars of the 50s and 60s: I see them in so many photos of Havana. I reeeeeallly like this lineup! The one on the bottom-left is a really beautiful capture: Without the people, it would be like a big crimson jewel. A joyous collection---and I see the cocos in the background, right upper corner (right?) They got taxis down there. They got some freakin' far-out taxis!

No, you are right about the Edsel, Mark. It was pretty much hated when it first came out. But time has a funny way of changing people's opinions. Today the Edsel is a beloved icon and an original is very expensive.

It must be amazing to see so many of these old beauties all at once in the same place; love these!

I should tell Sig to go to Cuba. He's been at a car show today, and I've been getting texts all evening of one classic car photo after another. LOL! This is an amazing collection, worthy of the best car show!
