Description
In 1938, on Halloween, the Columbia Broadcast Systems presented Orson Wells and the Mercury Theater on the Air in a special performance broadcast of H.G. Wells "The War of the Worlds". The effects set in motion by this broadcast would forever change the face of American Broadcasting, and set in motion events that continue to ripple through popular culture and society even today. The ultimate result was a Halloween no one would ever forget.
Took some liberties with the look of the Martian, based off the model from SsSandu_C on ShareCG. In the novels the martians had tentacles, while in the 1953 movie the lower half of the martian was never sculpted - so I kitbashed and merged the ideas. I massively modified the materials for Poser. I also used the Martian War Machine from Albert Delfosse on ShareCG based off of the machines from the 1953 movie. I always like those machines. I completely redid the textures for the war machine.
I do not do fan art very often, as anyone who has seen my galleries knows. I was trying to work through my current depressive episode, and chose topics I love. This was somewhat therapeutic. Entered into RuntimeDNA's Halloween themed monthly challenge.
