well I was getting ready to go to sleep, when I saw this, and now I won't sleep for a week, lol. Way too much energy for 11 pm! In this flower, you've zeroed in on the flower alone, showing only a little background; and it's allowed you to explore these inner 'cosmic' structures even more than in the last painting. I can't get over all the cells you have, these bundles of flower-atomic-energy. They've popped up in these pieces like a deluge of nuclei or potent seeds. They're not just buds or pollen or anything like that: I know your work too well to think they're 'only' that (though that would be enough): They're 'laden' things, energies bubbling up from some primal spring...like the bubbles at the bottom of a Yellowstone spring, where immense heat is churning, and which causes the water to explode up into the air. Then these 'cells' somehow morph into petals, and they flame upwards like more energy...Also, you're using so many hues in succession---like a flower this potent has to reveal the whole spectrum, not just a few hues. And the green leaves on the left and bottom are like underwater tentacles---they're alive. This is a wildflower from myth, it's what one might envision in the early days of earth: Though there were no flowers then, if flowers could exist then, this is what they'd look like---primal, and containing the code for all life. And you've got those petal and leaf-lines undulating in every direction (a kind of sunburst) and right off the page. And your top is the more "normal" carol (hard to use that word and your name in the same sentence), with your signature articulated space and flows, etc. But your "crop" puts us right in the center of this massive beast, and it's one explosive eye-popping primal thing. It's exquisite, Carol. I don't know if you're going to visit with people now, or take a walk (in the 90 feet of snow out there) or what. But if _I'd _ just finished this, I'd tell everyone, "pardon me, but I'm now going into a coma. I'll be back in a week..." I love what you're doing with this medium---it's like it was there when your style was ready for it, and ka-boom, you took it over. Brilliant. I really adore this.
(I'll get to the 2d version later...I have to go to sleep, believe it or not...)

So glad I came out of my coma to read your comment, Mark. It took me a while because I was laughing my head off. As you've noticed, with your keen eye and wit, the madness continues with my adventure with alcohol ink.As you pointed out, this is some kind of primal beast that just keep growing and forcing me to add more color and cells and pods and ... even I don't know what all is inside there, but it seemed to grow with an energy of its own. What's really interesting about this medium is I sort of have an idea of what I want to create, and then that gets gobbled up by the ink and drags me to unknown places, not letting me go until its had its way. It is like some creature that just keeps evolving, and when it's over, oddly, I don't feel exhausted but rather energized. What kept going through my mind was your comment on my other wild flower painting ... 'a billion years of evolution'. So, in a way, you are part responsible for this beast. Nighty night. :o)
