Description
There are some speed issues that I've been having with Iray that caused me to dust off Octane Render. Basically, when the scene takes about 30 minutes to render, it presents a problem for me. Don't get me wrong, I love Iray for the most part in just about every way, but Octane offers me some advantages that aren't available with Iray without a significant cost. I am dusting off Octane because I want to take the models into Cinema 4D or Modo to take advantage of things like particles and dynamics and ease of rigging among other things. The only problem has been that Iray for Cinema 4D Exists, but it's expensive. Since I already owned the Octane C4D Plugin and the Modo plugin, it made more financial sense to get a better foothold on Octane Render.
In addition, this is my first render with the Redspec TGX shader for the Genesis 3 female. I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with the speed and the quality of the renders. The center figure is the G3 Base female and I can't tell you how surprised I am that she looks this good. To her left is G3F with the Monique 6 shape and the Amandla Character maps. To her left is Chiyo HD for the G3F --all with the Redspec Shaders. I'm going to try and put together a full test scene over the weekend and then take these girls into Cinema 4D and see if I can't get the render to look as good there. Wish me luck!

Outstanding creation/characters!

I am using Octane and prefer that for now. Though I do have RedSpec, I am not using it currently. Instead using Tonysculptor's skin material and then customizing it. RedSpec does work well I agree.

About the only thing I don't like is the lack of being able to save Octane Materials on an object directly. If Octane developed a more direct way to do it, like a DUF file, then I'd probably pick it over Iray. When a final render can be produced in five minutes versus 35 minutes in Iray, then I could totally see it becoming more of a weapon of choice.
