Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

With the postwork isolating this pot it reminds me of an apple! And she does look quite satisfied with whatever it is she's ordered!

Beautiful photo.

the color version is fuller in hue, but this version feels more expressive. You're so good at section-postwork. I agree with Denise about the "apple" (that's one big apple!)---it looks like an apple with leaves on top. And the back wall is postworked for abstraction, while everything in between is postworked in black and white. I love the contrasts---like, the way those green leaves cut into the woman's face. And you included the ledge that the pot is resting on: A frame for the shot. A really fine packed shot, Andrea. It's packed, and yet it's open. You do multiple postworks as well as anyone here.
(And btw, you certainly may make suggestions on my art...that "orb carnival" I posted yesterday could easily be broken into 3 or 4 pieces. That happens with my montages alot. That piece was a 'group photo', and it could've been broken up easily...)

I have this image of Andrea being tossed out of various restaurants for sneaking around and shooting at people through the foliage. An excellent image with superb post work and outstanding composition and subject matter.

Fantastic idea to use selective colouring here Andrea! Very well seen, captured and realised as I think I would have completely missed this opportunity had I been there!

Great use of selective coloring - it definitely makes this a more interesting shot...

I've enjoyed going back through your gallery, seeing what I've missed in the past week or so. This one just jumped off the page at me, and I couldn't miss letting you know how much I like it.

The colored shot is awesome, but like how you focused in on the red pot and gorgeous ferns here.
