You thank us, but we should thank you and all your Parisian compatriots, for weathering a terrible attack, and still being immensely strong and defiant. Your image shows a woman of great strength-of-will (force de volonté), defiance, and esprit indomptable. (I hope my French is accurate!) She has an indomitable gaze, her collar is 'up'---but it's open (she's strong, but open to the world). And she's surrounded by some of your great city's icons (the Métro, La tour Eiffel, l'Arc de Triomphe)...and you've placed her in between black and white, as if she crosses both worlds (night and day) with great confidence. I love the black circle---you've circled your city as if you've protected it. And she stands in front of it, as if she's guarding it, guarding her beloved Ville Lumière. (The real icônes of Paris are its people...) You all stood by us on 9/11, we stand by you on 11/13...Paris will triumph, as long as people like you continue to create beauty and inspiration. Belle peinture et belle déclaration, Yves. Un grand merci de mon coeur...
