Description
A month passed. After hunting extensively, there was no sign of the baby’s father. Several men had come, claiming to be him, but Shunati was able to tell they weren’t. They tried talking with Star’s mother but her mind was too far gone. She barely remembered she had a daughter much less that she was pregnant or who the father might be. The nurse wasn’t any help either. She’d seen Star with a man but they’d never been introduced. She hadn’t been paid recently and while Star was the one to pay her, she knew the money actually came from him. Tylan made sure she was paid before leaving and had the woman promised to keep her posted on Star’s mother’s health.
Tylan and Emeton decided to adopt the girl. She was so small and still so pale. At first, they thought she was an albino, but Shunati said she wasn’t. He could find no reason for her lack of color though. She needed constant care, like Bacna but she wasn’t deformed, nor had she gone without air is long as he had. They felt she would be fine. Still, she cried a lot. Anytime she fell asleep, she’d wake up screaming after an hour or two. They could find no cause. It seemed as if she was having nightmares although no one could imagine what a newborn would have nightmares about.
“On this day, we officially recognize Annlonna va Darina ton Tylan Emeton, the adopted daughter of their majesties, King Emeton and Queen Tylan, born on this the nineteenth day of the third month of the year four thousand eight hundred and sixty-one.” The magistrate wrote. “We welcome you, Princess Annlonna.”
“Annlonna?” Pt’this asked as the child was presented.
“Star once told me she wanted to name her daughter after her grandmother.” Tylan explained.
As Tylan scanned the crowd, she noticed a man dressed in dragon skin and silk, an unusual combination. He also wore gloves and kept his cloak close around him. It was all quite odd but what drew Tylan’s attention was the silver star he used to fasten the cloak. Tylan thought it was a fitting, if unknown, tribute to the mother of the new princess.

Fine descriptive work and establishment of the mystery of the new princess' birth. The man in the dragon skin and silk is brought forward from the ancillary characters and deepens the growing mystery. Well done section of writing.

Delightfully Wonderful Work,

Beautiful image and story. I'm guessing there is a bit of magic in the father for the infant to be aware so young.
