really great how you made the guitar to be as if it was imposed on the sheet music

I think it's all how each viewer interprets the image, Jock. This is a delightful, lively and beautiful painting. It very effectively communicates the joy of the music being played. This is brilliant!

I like your golden Gustav Klimt styling's and as a guitarist, your thumb position depends on the chord you are playing and your style of playing, both are correct.
Well done & ~Cheers~

I just love this painting right by seeing the thumbnail, my friend. It's great how you painted the sheet music with all the little details, making it so lovely. And about your idea by not shown the whole neck of the instrument, this made the painting much more intriguing to me. As I'm a guitar player, I love this realization even more, Jock. Haha, and I saw this is a real Jock Mc Gregor guitar, how cool is that?

A splendid and expressive painting about music, great work, Jocko!

WOW! This looks fantastic. I couldnt brlieve you painted all these details, when i saw the thumbnail, untill I saw the full painting. Amazing...and about the hand, I know at once why the hand looked like that. If it still wonders people, you could let it fade a little out to the background. Love this and the wonderful colors. Brilliant idea too. I wish I had your courage.

The hands are fascinating and you can feel the music pouring out, but in a visual way. Very nice the way you did this.

Yes, the guitar and hands are emerging out of the music manuscript, and they seem to be 'creating' it...it's beautiful, Jock, and I can see the Klimt influence here, in your yellow and gold tones, your little baubles and 'jewels' all throughout, your quiet rectangles, etc. The hands are all intensity and determination...and re the placement of the thumb: In Classical guitar, the thumb is behind the neck of the guitar, used as a 'balance'. In most popular guitar, the thumb wraps around the neck much of the time. (In Flamenco, I've seen it both ways.) What you did is fine...besides, Jock, your musician paintings are so intuitive and deep, it's fine however you place the thumb. You may not have played guitar, but your paintings of guitarists---along with fiddle players, piano players, accordion players, etc---show great intimacy for the way they play. No one paints musicians the way you do.
Your placement of the hands in the left side of the painting allows the manuscript to fill us with its sunny glow. And I love how you turned the music staves into an embossed 'carving'. Beautifully done, as always.

Oh man, this is great! When you described it to me at lunch, I got sort of a good idea of what you were doing, but this is SO much more exciting than what I had imagined! The detail you put into the sheet music is incredible. The Klimt vibe gives this loads of energy, and the nearly invisible guitar makes this all about sound rather than paint. It's brilliant!

It's a wonderful composite Jocko. If you are concerned about the way the thumb looks, you could put in a little bit of a ghost/suggestion of the guitar right there and then let it fade out. Just an idea. It's lovely the way it is.
