very poignant, Ute, and this man has a young person with him, hopefully comforting him. Your light falls on both of them, yet the shadow does communicate aloneness. And your details are poignantly chosen, filled with objects of age and childhood. The old stove with rusted kettle, the old phonograph, the teddy bear, a photograph on the wall that looks like it's from the 1930s or 1940s, a christmas wreath surrounded by shadow. And the contrast of the old man with the young woman who's dressed in clearly modern clothing. (Your attention to clothing is always first rate, including the rip in the knees of her jeans, or those neon-like shoes.) The man is in contemplation, perhaps lost in memory. And there's a table between them, but it's a distance from either of them. Sadness in the scene, but hope; and yes, this season can be very difficult for many, I've known many who've suffered during the holidays, and it's painful to see. You have a sunset or sunrise out the window, and that brings hope. I hope the light is there for many...the holidays shouldn't cause pain, but they do. Very nicely done once more. I don't know how you do all these images, with all the details so finely chosen, so often. More fine work, and very sensitively done...
