Description

Abstract version of what's happened here in Carlisle, UK, this last weekend. Actual images of the devastation and flooded streets of the city and neighbouring areas and other towns in Cumbria are on the web. We live on higher ground, so only suffered from power failures; but walk half a mile down the hill to the Eden bridge and there's no way you can get across the flood to the centre of town, where the same areas have been hit that were damaged by flood water before.

The image is marvelous but I am sorry for its inspiration. We lived near a river when I was small and I can still remember the mess and trouble flooding would cause every year.
