I actually have a lot more photos of Prague that I was planning to post, but I've been focusing on Prague for over a month now & thought it might be time to move on. Right before getting to Prague, my friend Allen & I took one of the optional excursions offered by our cruise line - to the fairy tale like town of Cesky-Krumlov, which is about 100 miles from Prague. Cesky-Krumlov is designated as a Unesco World Heritage Site & here is a brief description from the Unesco web site: "Situated on the banks of the Vltava river, the town was built around a 13th-century castle with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements. It is an outstanding example of a small central European medieval town whose architectural heritage has remained intact thanks to its peaceful evolution over more than five centuries." It has a very large castle complex & charming cobblestone streets that wind though the old town center. We had a brief guided tour when we got there & a few hours to eat lunch & walk around the town on our own, but I really would have liked to stay longer, even overnight. Unfortunately, that's one of the drawbacks of cruise travel - not much flexibility. This is a view of the river & part of the castle complex in the background.
