Description

Octane now supports the rendering of volumetric light... yeah, yeah... I still have a lot to learn with it, but I'm pretty excited since rendering times are nothing like in firefly for volumetric lights. This image, 2000x3000 pixels took 1 hour 38 mins to render. Times they are are changing.

Congratulations. Like that you have not overdone it with the rays/dust. Still have to find out how to use volumetric lighting in DS, but your render surely spurs me on.

nicely done! good lighting effects. The only issue I found is that the image would greatly be improved with an ambient occlusion pass. At the moment her feet look as though they are floating on the carpet. The posing of her arms (especially the right) is a bit cramped. If you pictured her as a silhouette it is easier to see what I am talking about. Creating more negative space in this area would improve the image drastically. Sorry for the long winded comment, Keep up the good work 😀

Wow, that is fast for the quality of the light--I love how volumetrics look but I am all about the fast render-- so I have always put them in post, though having them in the render looks so much better. I like the way the glow propagates into the light, too. I think a hazy atmo does knock down ambient occlusion, too--so this looks right to me.

Interesting - I assume you have early access to Octane 3 then as it is not released yet! Looking forward to it myself.

"....I normally don't like to waste batteries. You never know when your going to need your staff light in a storm, but I can't get this stupid thing to turn off. I think it's stuck." that aside, it's a really beautiful render... I don't think I'll ever own Octane. too pricey. but I"m looking forward to seeing more stuff like this from you in the future....
