Description

A mind full of memories she can no longer grasp like sand through the fingers of hands that can’t clasp. Color fades from her eyes with the walls closing in memories but ghosts of things that had been. When I look in her face does she know who I am is the person I know trapped deep within. When the disease gets a hold the mourning begins it’s death without dying it’s loss without end. ~ an excerpt from Tim Garner’s Her Memory For those who's parent/s is suffering from alzheimer's/dementia, you are not alone. So difficult to see my mom decline so much this year. She is here but at the same time, she is somewhere else. She once was and still is an amazing, strong woman in our hearts, nothing can break those memories. Image Credits: Dubious Hat Boxes by lwperkins and donnena (so beautifully crafted!) As a Certified Nurses Aide I work with dementia/Alzheimer's people.

In my years, I've seen the process develop from mild to severe in my people and it is heartbreaking to see the deterioration this condition causes. All too often, I've held the hands of my people and been the last face they've seen as the disease takes its final toll. Each and every one have touched and left a special place in my heart and mind.

The path ahead will be rough, but remember to always love, honor and respect your mom... even though there may be times when these are not reciprocated. Patience is truly a virtue as you will find in the days ahead.

May God bless you, your mom and all your loved ones, now and always.

I love this, Jenny. This brilliant image so illustrates just how multi-dimensional you are. A cup of tea and a talk with you would make for the perfect afternoon. Beautifully, thoughtfully composed, your picture speaks volumes about memories and how precious they are. Thank you for sharing it!

A beautiful dedication Jenny and I am sorry to hear that your Mom has deteriorated this year. It is so hard to watch and I think your poem says it all really. It is always hardest for family when they don't recognize you or shun you. I love how you have created this image it brings back so many memories. 😄
