I don't gamble, so I don't see the desire to live there. That's a whole lot of desert!! Great shot!

Great shot, Richard. LV is truly an oasis in the desert. But the smog you mentioned, ugh.

I still remember how fascinating and exciting the place looked on our first plane trip there. Clear as a bell - I've never seen smog there. Nice shot you got of the city and the surrounding desert.

What a dry landscape, it's a riddle for me how one can build a city in the desert. I've read that in 2016 they will get big problems with the water supply because the water level of Lake Mead is sinking dramatically. Nevertheless, an excellent and interesting shot!

Klaus's comment reminds me of how much of a shock it is for people to see this city from a distance, and wonder how anyone ever built it there. Maybe he doesn't know the story, how it was literally built up from a stopover, and not meant to be a big city. Your shot is stunning in its flatness and in the way you capture the flatness of the city. With some peaks, also flat against the horizon. Beautifully composed. You're as masterful with a flat landscape like this as you are with the majestic peaks and bluffs and cliffs of other landscapes. Beautifully done. I wish it were really large; it's very, very true to the landscape and its feel.

I really like how you've blended the apparent desolation of the foreground with the strip of buildings and vastness beyond. Excellent shot, Richard!

Breathtaking, panoramic landscape. Looks real dry, though. I'd be a bit worried if I were there and there wasn't that town ahead where I could go get some water!

Wow, I have never been in a desert, but I can feel the heat by seeing your photo!
