Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Very nice work! I'm trying to find a machine that can handle medium to heavy webbing - everything I've found so far is light-weight - bleh!

A beautiful sampler and you can certainly do a lot with your machine.

I remember these. Thanks for the link so I could see them again. Not bad for a beginner. And your sampler shows some thorough planning and tells me you follow the old woodworker's motto, "Measure twice, cut once." Here's hoping you have a wonderful New Year's Eve and a happy and healthy 2016.

Nicely done! This is art in and of itself!

I remember the Church banners vividly. They were some of the first things I commented on in your gallery, and they were masterpieces. (No exaggeration on that, they were masterful.) It was good to see them again on flickr. (You'd originally posted them individually, here, and they were some of the highlights of my viewing back then.) This sampler feels like a playful fantasy; in fact it reminds me of Helle's play art, her 'pop' art, with patches of this and that thrown together. Only this is applied, sewn on to the surface. It dances. I realize you were trying things out, but your inner eye is in there, and the result is something I'd put on my wall. Always great to see your physical art, and great for the new year too! I would truly hang this in my home, it's a big piece of crafted play.

I'm sure you know this caught my eye on the page immediately! :) I can't resist anything made of fabric. And of course I remember your banners ... it was a huge treat to see them years ago, and another to see them again today. I said to Bill, across the room, "Do you remember the banners Andrea made for the local church?" He said, "Oh yes ... they were amazing!" So he came over and looked again too, and we had a nice time enjoying your work.
