I can't help but think of a sewer cover for a highly aesthetically-conscious world...the perpendiculars are like the carvings on old Chinese bronzes, those stylized dragons and spirits that march across the metal like a spirit army (2 examples: http://igavelauctions.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/CC_ShangBronze-8.jpg, http://www.artsconnected.org/media/78/68/13c3760eca915ab02123d620fbd9/1024/768/72969.jpg): I assume these bronzes were not your intent, as your forms are whole unto themselves; but their interlinking, and their deeper levels (I see at least two layers of forms here) have a mythic feel, as if these perpendiculars represent something very deep to their makers, as if an ancient people made them...and the surfaces are like highly smoothed metal, or even a carved gemstone (or luminous ivory). The orb in the middle had real beauty (and reflectivity), and it seems to be imbued with some exotic power. I love the pinkish/amber and blueish tones reflected in it...What could've been a mundane set of spiraling forms, turned out to be a beautiful piece of a magic-laden, intricate carving. Quite beautiful, Mandi.
