Description

Hello to all. It has been some time time since I last posted an image. I had almost lost my excitement for photography. I was disappointed with my last two cameras (Nikon D40X and Lumix LX7) and was stuck in a rut. In addition to that, the continued drought in my area had killed many plant and tree species. This led to a great reduction in animals and insects on my property. I also started to find that it was getting harder to get around as each year passes. But things are looking up. I received a new camera (Fugi Finepix s9900W) for Xmas. It is a bridge camera and has a 50x optical zoom that effectively gives it an equiv. lens size of 80mm to 830mm. Hopefully this will allow me the ability to get some bird shots from 100' and even dragonflies from 20' or so. In addition, 2015 was an unusually wet year starting in early spring. We got twice as much rainfall than our yearly average. The pond filled up in April and has basically stayed full all the rest of the year. This year has started off wet also. Maybe it means the drought has finally abated. This is the newest member of my household. She showed up in July and I could not run her off. When confronted, she just lay down, rolled over on her back and wagged her tail. I decided to ignore her and assumed she would move on when she got hungry enough but she just went under the house and stayed there for 3 days. I then relented and put out fresh water and food. That got her out from under the house and onto the front porch. She is about 1 year old, and was in good health. She had not been on her on for long. No idea where she came from but there is no doubt she adopted me, lol. She weighs about 70 lbs and thinks she is a lap dog. She is fairly well behaved and has shown no hostility toward my cat Hoover. Hoover has been less outgoing but they have reached an understanding. The dog lays down when the cat gets too near, lol. So here is one of my first photos with the new camera. She was about 60' away when I took this shot she filled almost all the screen. I am already aware that I will be using a tripod much much more often than I ever have before because of camera shake at the long end of the telephoto range. Lee
