Description
I was dead, I was actually dead. I'm standing here because I made a deal with a demon, That puts me on borrowed time. You see in exchange for saving my life I agreed to retrieve an axe for him, an axe that is currently in the possession of a traveling companion of mine named Crete. No problem right? Wrong! It's actually a big problem, Crete is very protective of his weapons and doesn't like being told what to do. If it comes down to a fight I know I can't take him, he would wipe the floor with me. Even worse is that if I fail in persuading him to give me the axe I then forfeit my soul to Kasza'Zuel, the Dark Child. He's an ancient and powerful demon who favors the appearance of young boys knowing it adds to his overall creepiness.
Though I have to admit, the demon upheld his end of the bargain. I feel good, real good! I stretch my neck and it pops, a truly wonderful feeling. I crack my knuckles and test my joints, while rotating my left shoulder something catches my eye. I bring my shoulder up into a position better for viewing and sure enough a dark symbol is staring back at me. The Symbol looks demonic, down right evil. I rub my hand across it hoping to wipe it away, but the dark mark seems to be burned directly into my skin.
"Damn!"
It's then I notice the hole above me, it's where I must have fallen from, no wonder I died. Considering I can't see the surface that was one heck of fall. Climbing back up seems unlikely, one slip and I would be right back to where I started. I begin looking around at my surroundings more closely, I notice the architecture. I'm definitely in a man made structure which means there must be another way out. Best thing I can do is start exploring, luckily my elven eyes permit me sight in these dark corridors, without that I wouldn't be able to see anything!
The dark mark has me concerned, but I can't worry about that right now. Right now my priority is getting out of here and finding Hayden. My ears pick up some faint noise in the distance, maybe it's the others, maybe they found their way down here. With limited options I decide to move cautiously towards the faint sounds in the distance, hoping it's my friends and not some fiendish creature from my nightmares.
"I'm coming Hayden."

Glad he is alive but I don't like the deal he made.
KRYKOS
Either does he. Given the circumstances though do you think you would have been able to do differently? I struggled long and hard whether Tate would deal with Dark Child again and I believe that if he Hadn't threatened Hayden in the manner he did Tate would have chosen death. Thank you so much for contributing your input! I love knowing others are following my story.

another excellent, if not short chapter. Excellent picture. I might have included the symbol or the discussion with the daemon. Then again maybe not. What ever the case...keep'em coming!!!

The demon Kasza'Zuel intentionally left the dark mark unmentioned to Tate. If you can't trust a demon who can you trust? Just one more thing for Tate to worry about.

Glad Tate is still alive but, it sounds like he could have trouble holding up his end of the deal, well maybe Crete will be in a good mood.

Miracles can happen right? Tate definitely has his work cut out for him. Keep in mind Crete and Tate really haven't known each other all that long.

Ah, Tate has pulled through. Fine installment.

One should never make deals with devil - the cards always seem to fall on his side.
