I'm not a judge for the magazine but this would be in the running for serious consideration! Awesome and hauntingly beautiful! I love the setting - and she's well separated from the background without looking like a cut out. The ghosted in wolf and eye are the icing on the proverbial cake. Perfect-a-mundo!!

your design says mystery, secrets unfolding, invitation, danger, beauty, yearning, etc...it's filled with a misty sense of things unseen that we will soon understand, once we read the book. A sensual and beautiful glimpse into an inner world. Your palette of deep grayish blues, with greens for the woman's dress, suggests deep memory and longing. And the eye in the sky, along with the howling wolf, suggests peering into hidden mysteries. You used flowers really well too. And you composed the background well, with the peaks 'framing' the wolf and the lady, and rising to meet the stairs, etc. Very well done, Steve. An inviting mysterious vision. Good luck with it! (It's too bad the bar code and author's name even have to be here, lol...these covers would be so much nicer with just the title....buuuuuut....you gotta give the author's name, right? I mean, courtesy and all...) Fine atmospheric moody art!
