Description

The girl on the cliff is getting ready to jump into the water. She is hesitating, partly I think of the height (it looks a lot higher from her point of view than from my perspective) and partly of the anticipated entry into the cold water. This location is slightly downstream from my previous post of McDonald Creek. The people in the picture are park visitors enjoying a day in the sun. It is calm, hot, hazy from the forest fire on the other side of the mountain, but the water is ice cold - it is glacial runoff. Shortly after I took this picture all the people ran downstream and when I asked somebody about the commotion they informed me that a Black Bear had shown up, either to go fishing or cool off, but the people scared him back into the woods. Great candid capture

I've jumped into a stream that was only a quarter mile long and glacier fed - cold does not begin to describe the condition

Better her than me! I've jumped into ice cold water when it was really hot out, and it wasn't at all what I was expecting. Not fun! WOnderful capture!
