Description

The Flying Scotsman, an iconic locomotive in UK. has been restored and had testing runs on the East Lancs Railway...so wishing to see this moment of history I waited on Rawtenstall station on Saturday in bitterly cold weather, which did not deter people from coming to see it!! thousands of people have seen the engine, pulling a train, in the stations and along the route. Why is this locomotive special? It was built in 1923 for the London and North Eastern Railway ( LNER) travelling from London to Edinburgh. It set the world record becoming the first steam locomotive to be officially authenticated at reaching 100mph. Now it's in its wartime livery colour, black,..so not very attractive, LNER livery was apple green! Much more on Wikipedia for those interested.

I suppose if it's authenticity you're looking for, then I suppose the livery is as it should be, but I must be honest in remembering Flying Scotsman as being green! lol Does that make me a nerd? I hope not! lol Great capture! Steve (also in UK)
