Description

It is not miserable because the temperature is 43 F, and it is not miserable because of the fine, drizzly rain, but what makes it miserable is the steady wind that drives the fine, 43 F degree rain almost sideways. The two young women that are coming off the moraine at the base of the glacier are not loitering around unnecessarily. They took their picture and went straight back into their car. This picture was taken on 15 August 2015, Sig...

I can see why they would hurry back to the car...personally I probably would have skipped getting out in the first place. Biking in the wind is something I get to do here in the Netherlands. It always seems like I have to bike against the wind no matter which direction I go. Sometimes I wish I had a car so I could hide inside away from the wind and blowing rain. But, I am really happy I can still manage to ride my bike no matter if it is windy. Great image!

@Sunrisegirl: I know exactly what you are talking about riding bike. When I used to ride bike in Germany, and bike riding was the best way to get around, the wind always came from the front. Going to work in the morning, against the wind, returning in the evening, against the wind. BTW, I did not see any bike riders here.

There's something about that place that feels unfinished and raw, isn't there? What an amazing thing it is to be able to get so close to a glacier.

That does sound uncomfortable! Hard to take photographs with a sideways driving rain!
