À l'origine, une fête de la Lumière[modifier
À l'origine, l'Épiphanie fait partie du cycle de Noël et tire son fond et son sens des célébrations païennes de la Lumière. En effet, Noël, avant d'être un jour, est d'abord un cycle qui atteint son apogée au jour marquant le solstice d'hiver, le 22 décembre. Cette nuit du solstice — la plus longue de l'année — annonce le rallongement des jours et — par extension — la renaissance de la Lumière censée être à l'origine de toutes choses. Puis la célébration se prolonge après le 25 décembre durant un nombre de jours hautement symbolique : 12 jours et 12 nuits.
Le nombre 12 représentant entre autres la Totalité (12 mois, 12 heures, 12 dieux olympiens, 12 tribus d'Israël, 12 apôtres, etc.)
Le cycle prend fin le 6 janvier. C'est à ce moment que les jours commencent à s'allonger de façon sensible, que la promesse de la nuit solsticiale est tenue, et c'est cette date que choisit le Père de l'Église Épiphane de Salamine, dans son Panarion, comme date de naissance de Jésus, afin de réfuter une date concurrente proposée par la secte gnostique des Alogoi3. On célèbre alors l'Épiphanie, la manifestation de la Lumière. Par sa forme ronde et sa couleur dorée, la galette symbolise le soleil. Il est à noter également que c'est ce jour (en tout cas son équivalent, car le calendrier alors en vigueur — le calendrier julien — diffère du nôtre) qu'avait lieu sous la Rome antique la fête des 12 Dieux épiphanes (autrement dit les 12 Olympiens).

Tout d'abord, les couleurs ici sont tellement riches et possèdent un spectre qui fait appel à mon âme. Puis, il y a le réglage, cette forêt magique, avec le soleil, une fuite à donner vie et éclairer le chemin à venir ; un très symbolique et beau travail, présenté dans un ensemble de trois, un numéro énergique. Bravo, Bravo !
