Description
I was trying, one cold, bracing September morning last year, to keep my camera still in an well named area, called Windy Gap, in the Cooley peninsula, Ireland, while concentrating on the landscape, and racing clouds, when I hear a slight noise behind me. Thinking that the friendly horse had decided to return to my end of its paddock, I turned my upper body slowly, then having to lower my camera, having discoverd that I had disturbed a young hare, that had slipped in between some large boulders, on its path down the fields, and found its path blocked by your truly. I managed to get off a few quick shots before it took off across the bend in the driveway, down into the fields, proving why it is the fastest mammal in the British Isles. I have played a wee bit with this one in AUTO FX plug in Mystical lights, trying to lighten it, but the original is very blue. Hopefully I will post some of the others I had the fortune to take that early morning.
Just as in real life, we can often be truly surprised, made to feel as if we are visitors in a strange land. I found the episode quite uplifting. The local sheep farmer had never seen a hare in all his years in the area. Hares are sometimes highlighted as iconic animals in some parts of Northern Ireland, but in all my visits to the province, since the mid 1950s, I cannot remember seeing one there. Enjoy. God bless you all this cold, windy evening as Storm Gertrude makes it's presence known too. ;o)

Great photo. We have these creatures scamper through our yard almost daily. Fun to watch.

I'm not familiar with Mystical lights, but it sounds like it's very aptly named based on the mystical atmosphere of this shot. You've created a very unique & appealing image from your "close encounter" with this hare...
