Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Great collage!
it's just gray and off-green here; no flowers to speak of

Oh, how beautiful!!! And you have crocuses already? Mine are just starting to shoot up green leaves, although some neighbors have daffodils almost ready to bloom. What a startling array of bloom in mid-winter!

That broken pot seems an omen of what might happen in the future. This place carries such magic. It should be on The National Heritage List for England.

It doesn't look as if spring is very far away for you with all these flowers out all ready. Ours came early last year too but then it stopped and took a turn for the worst with hard frosts wiping out lots so I hope you don't get that. You really look forward to spring coming don't you.

I also always love your monthly garden photos. I have missed those. I have one lone crocus in my garden. But in December I actually photographed (from a distance with my cell phone...not the sharpest shot) a whole bunch of daffodils actually in full bloom. They were against a south facing wall...but still!!!
You always seem to have something interesting going on in your garden. :)

well I'll join in with the group and say I love your monthly garden photos too. They always have so much life in them; and your central garden shot looks like a big private paradise---you have such variety in that yard---and even in January! I love the light in that photo too, almost dissolving in spots. And the individual flowers have saturated hues, and lots of patterns, and lots of kinds of light. A real delight, Andrea. Nothing like that grows here, in January, at least outside...
(I thought of how I could do monthly shots: But I don't have a garden---i"m on the 27th floor! I could do "January desk," and show all the messes I've created in 30 short days. Or "January laundry". I could photograph everyone I saw in January, but most of my friends would sue me if I made them public. Insects? Foods that went bad? Gimme some inspiration here! All the Latin expressions I used in January? People I met named "Lupe"? ((That's from Guadalupe, a beautiful Mexican name, and yes, I know 3!)) I'm at a loss...)

Your garden is a beauty Andrea even in bad weather.
