Hi all: I started out as a painter, then switched to digital art after I saw some work in Bryce. Abandoned Bryce more or less when the Poser bug bit. I have always liked more realistic painting. I also have worked as a professional photographer and currently shoot with a Nikon SLR digital camera. What's nice is I could use all my 35 mil lenses with the digital. Happy rendering!! I'm married with two grown daughters and one grandson. Here I am on my new horse, Dylan.

Given the title I was expecting some religious image...lol ! This is superb. I share your point, Poser is far better despite the poor quality of the characters but I heard they're on the way to "offer" (free ???) a new character, much better and the the ivorce with Daz will be final !

Exellent done.

WOW!!!! This is amazing, Sherrie - well worth the time it took to render it!
From what I understand, the "real world" render engines (Iray, Superfly, Reality, etc) use a whole different set of algorithms to calculate the effects of light, which is why the render times are longer. I hope to get the time (someday) to experiment with them a bit, myself. But it looks like you've got it down pretty well! This is gorgeous!

Such a beautiful render :)

Beautiful render. The water looks so inviting. Sorry to hear about your DS problem with lost files. Hope Daz can get that sorted out for you soon. As for Iray renders, I do not know a lot about Iray per se but I think this holds true for most of the real world render engines. The graininess, as I understand it, has to do with raytrace bounce and not enough light falling on the pixels due to how your scene is let and what all you have in it competing for those bounces. In Superfly the solution is to increase the samples number to higher value (also sometimes increase the number of bounces, but increasing the samples sort of does this as I understand). I suspect Iray has a similar setting.

Nice result, doesn't look too grainy at all, but I don't use Daz, so I can't give you any tips.
~Cheers~

Very beautiful girl and nice expression, splendid render!

The water looks wonderful realistic! Personally, I have nothing left for Iray. The render time is too long for me. In my eyes, wasting energy. Similarly, the Lux Render. With the right light even a 3 Delight render also looks photorealistic. Very nice done, my dear friend!

A wonderful scene. Fantastic image!!

Iray works best with one or more really good nvidia card's, or it really won't give you any benefit over 3Delight or Firefly. I'm running a single 780ti and get renders with global illumination done in hours that would take days in 3Delight. (Firefly does handle GI lighting a** lot **better than 3delight but Iray cleans clocks where it comes to realism and speed).
Tip: Under render settingsAdvancedhardware uncheck cpu if you are using nvidia cards. If you are one of those lucky people that have more than one card, here's where you would check off the ones you are using. More is better with Iray, but it's a good idea to leave one card free to render your monitor screen. Daz being the bugfest it always is, will chew up 100% of your CPU and almost all of your RAM no matter what you do, but if you have only one card like me, Iray will hog all of it, so your screen will get sluggish. Plan on doing other things while you render.
Screen Grain: This is taken care of under Render SettingsEditorProgressive Rendering. Look for Max Samples and raise that value. You can go all the way up, or take the limits off and keep going. The default is likely at 5000. Try raising it to 10000, or just max it. You can always stop the render when it looks good enough to you. Again though, if you are not running an nvidia card, this won't do you any good. You'd likely get better results in Poser 11's Superfly renderer, I'm assuming that doesn't exclusively require an Nvidia card.
Really though, if you want a good Iray render, get to know the render settings tab. You'll be there a lot. Also, get to know good old fashion camera stuff. You'll find all that under Render SettingsTone Mapping. That's all the global f-stop and shutter speed and whatnots. Those WILL dramatically affect your scene. Sickleyield has good explanations in her past journals over on her DA page.
