Description
This is why I solved Claude's Melk mtstery so quickly. I saw this box at a museum in Turckheim, France last summer. I think his is bigger and fancier, but still recognizable when you seen a similar item before. It was fun to have a correct guess for once since I usually fail miserably at the guessing games.

Thank you, Katherine. I think the one I saw at Melk was more complex & had more pieces, but this one seems more creative & fanciful. Both are fascinating examples of technology from long ago...
