Description

Captured back on 11/4/07. A high-rise structure in earthquake-prone downtown Los Angeles? Yes, we do have several.

That's a very very high high-rise! I always worried about the earthquake thing with these tall buildings too, but I guess they're designed to handle it. At least that's what they say! Superb neck-craning view of this one, Harry!

Yes well it is certainly high but I hope to never be in it in an earthquake. Christchurch has learned from its mistakes and have put a sort of limit of 7 stories on the new ones. Just when things were going well with a lot of rebuilding they had a 5.7 shake on Valentines day which has made everyone nervous again. 😄 You can't trust earthquakes.

I have a limit on... ground floor. Yeah, they can have their tall buildings. But really cool pov.

I'm not back, Harry, but as I left a comment on Yves dedi (and gave my condolences to Jock, who lost his mother---my only 2 comments in a few weeks), I was sure to stop here and give you a comment as well, and wish you healing and more of the improvement you're finally experiencing. I hope it continues! As for the photo---when you posted this, I thought, "did Harry come to Chicago?" I know LA has only a small number of high rises (due to earthquakes). But it's so rare that we see them in your gallery; or see the downtown corridors as well. (Your most recent shot of a downtown street in early morning was terrific, almost eerie in its abandonment, and slightly 'hazy'.) With this shot, you show us that you're just as adept at high rises as you are at fences, garage doors, roses, etc. Taken like one whose been photographing these for years: A beautiful 'soar', perfect massing (ie, the front building against the pink one behind it, and met by that tower-like thing, front left), fine combo of blues in sky and facade, and a fine mix of dark and light. And a beautifully captured sky to set it off. I know LA isn't loaded with these, but anytime you want to share them is fine with me! I loved your recent downtown shots. I'll be back, but for today, take this as a wish for your continued healing, and hope that no more trouble is coming your way. I love the shot. An LA we don't often get to see in your gallery.

Clean and elegant! A fine shot. I like the perspective and symmetry.
