Description

So for those that don't know, my son took his own life last month. I raised him by myself for almost 13 of his 15 1/2 years. He was my son, by best friend, and the meaning of life for me. There was no note, mo reason, he always seemed happy. He was the person that helped me with pictures, i would always ask him about his ideas for colors, effects, we spoke for hours about made up creatures, that were half animal and half human, and i have a whole series of those on here, and many more to do. We would talk and laugh for hours about those. He was good at digital art and did a few pictures himself, but he was much more a musician, He could play guitar, bass, keyboards, Violin, He sang in school choir for 4 years. He was wanting to get a mandolin so he could "play Battle of Evermore" on the right instrument. I feel completely lost and that the meaning of life has been ripped away. We took donations and the school has set up a Suicide Prevention fund in his name at the school, so that hopefully no one else will have to go through what i am, even if it only helps one person. Someone mentioned it may go to a national fund, which i have to talk to them about. If so we are going to set it up as a Arts and Music scholarship in his name instead. I want it to stay at his school. Would really like to do both, but we only got so much money. Why? What went wrong? Even if we get these answers, it changes nothing, but may help us understand. I've known a few who have tried. Fortunately, all failed, and were glad they did afterwards. Sadly, your son succeeded. I understand how you feel. I hope your engagement in the fund and in your art will help you through this difficult time. A very dark and powerful image indeed. But shows so much potential. Keep up the good work! :-)

There are no words I can tender that will express how I felt seeing this image and your words. As a father I cannot even imagine how I could recover from a loss this hard. I can only hope that the way you are dealing with his passing I might somehow be as eloquent, and beautiful and driven as you have become. I truly hope that your art and your son's fund will grant you a solace so that others may not know the pain you suffer now. Though I have never met you in the real world, I know that from your art you are strong. My thoughts are with you.
