Description
I make short work of the skeletons, I have faced many over the years and this group was nothing special. My blade which has been permanently charged by my natural ability to strengthen non living items dismantled the skeletons with ease. Their glowing eyes dim out of existence as their bony bodies drop to the cold stone floor.
Not getting the satisfaction I was hoping for I prepare to move on, after all I still need to find away out of here. As I take my first step to leave I hear a bone "snap" and I spin around to see one of the skeletons jaws hinging back into place. I wait for its eyes to begin glowing again, but they remain dark, to my surprise however it speaks.
"I can sense you mortal, you have invaded my home and killed my subjugates and for this you will most certainly die!"
I stare down at lifeless skeleton. "Why can't you undead types ever just stay dead?" I ask out of frustration.
The skeletons head begins twitches erratically. "I am not the fallen before you mortal, I AM THEIR KING! For your treachery you will die, it has been centuries since I have indulged in the blood and entrails of a mortal swine such as yourself."
"Nice trick." I say. "I have never heard of a skeleton being able to communicate through its minions before."
"TRICK!" Roars the skeleton. "Will it be a TRICK when I separate your head from your body and hang them as trophies behind my throne?"
Okay, I have to be honest, I'm getting a little worried. Whatever this thing is it possess some degree of power to be able to communicate through a fallen skeleton like he's doing. Then take into consideration of how angry he sounds leaves me with the realization that I really shouldn't be antagonizing him, but then I'm in a foul mood.
"Oh stop with the melodrama! If and when the time comes when we meet I will dismember you as easily as I did these pathetic followers." I tell him in the most confidant tone I can manage, not truly feeling the confidence I'm trying to project.
The skeleton howls in rage and I'm unsure if ever in my life have I been more convinced of just how angry someone is, this guy is down right livid!
"We will meet mortal, I assure you." Says the skeleton. "Let us see if you are truly as brave as you boaster."
"And how do you propose we do that?" I ask.
The skeleton laughs. "I have already sent an escort to guide you to my throne chamber, then we will see who dismembers who more easily."
"I will cut them down." I tell him. "You send anyone and they will meet their end as surely as those at my feet now.
"Coward" Roars the skeleton. "If you wish to leave this place then you will face me, it is through me that the path you seek lies. Defeat me and your freedom is assured, but should you fail you will become the lowest of my subjugates for all eternity."
This isn't good, something about his confidence is giving me a bad feeling. I could go back the way I came and hope for another exit, but he did say the path I seek lies through him. Years ago I chose this path of a hero wanting to make a difference in the world, now before me is an evil that needs to be vanquished. Do I turn my back on my virtues and run away or do I stand tall and prove to myself that I am the man I claim to be?
I hear what sounds like a large door open further down the corridor and once again I hear that stone on stone sound, which is actually skeleton bone dragging against the hard stone floor.
It's the moment of truth, it's time to make a decision. After being healed by the Dark Child I feel the best I have ever Felt in my life, I have my sword and the Lightning dirk from the brothers tomb is still tucked safely in my boot. I'm a hero and it's time I prove it!
I begin moving towards the oncoming skeletons, after just a few steps I hear the skeleton King begin laughing diabolically. I don't turn back, I need to stay focused. I can't allow this decision to be my last, I can't die, not without being able to hold Hayden in my arms one last time. I want to look into her beautiful green eyes again, this is NOT my day to die!

Your story is moving along beautifully. I wasn't all that sure a skeleton could die easily, then again I wasn't there to see the action. It may have been a horrendous fight. (LOL)
