Description

Helle recently posted a pic with long shadows, so here is one of several shots I've taken over the years during the months of December, January and February, captured on a neighborhood street, very early in the morning on 1/17/10.

Another of your great Harry-shadow shots. This one has you stretching clear across the street and into someone's driveway. If I recall, you've told us you're fairly short---which wins points with me, as I'm just under 5' 6"---so I guess this gives you a chance to bask in 'tallness'. But just as a shot, it's delightful too---with that band of parched grass on the lower half, and the road and lawn/driveway in the upper half. And the diagonals, and the lines of the street to give a horizontal accent to this vertical shot. And the contrast of hues, as we cross all the patches in the shot: It's like a cross section of a photographic layer cake. And you reach your 'peak' at the top---w/ your shoulders and head nearly at the top of the shot. Yeah, this had to be very early in the morning, to get a shadow this long. And I see Helle loved it. Terrific shot.
