Description
The stars were blocked by some dark shape, monstrous and un-natural. That is, un-natural to be floating there in the void, much less moving under some unknown means - had it been in the depths of some ocean on Pacifica, or Titan, it might not have been so horrible a sight. As it was, even without its imensity, it was a nightmare - like some great Nautilus or Kraken that wandered the stars. Thorned, long-reach tentacles sprung from a hideous, mandibled face that emerged from the front of the shell. They twitched and writhed, crackling with Saint Elmo's fire as the beast drifted silently among the stars. It's spiral shell was not smooth, but bristled with strange outcroppings and protuberances of unknown purpose. It's enormous mandibles easily looked capable of scissoring through the outer docking rings of Outrunner Drift, should the beast get close enough. Perhaps the most terrifying, sanity breaking aspect of them all was that this monstrosity was not alone...it drifted with three siblings at least...
A WIP of my latest kitbash. I am working on the aline Bioships used by one of the Alien races in my sci-fi project. I still need to add some details and play around with the textures on this, but so far I am very happy with the progress. The backdrop is entirely from scratch using Photoshop.

Thank you for the narrative. An excellent story to complement such an alien creation. Surprise encounters such as this must be would be a tremendous hazard to space explorers even if this 'ship' or its 'crew' or the entity itself had no malicious intent. Being over curious might result in disaster for one side or both.

Well that's certainly different! Cool image, and I like your narrative.

Fascinating image !

Like the Shadow ships of Babylon 5, this design exudes menace and threat, with the nagging fear that its builders look even scarier.
