Description
I've wanted to do a piece using London224's inspiring U-boat pen for a long time (Thanks Don!). It was great fun to work with. It is a way more intricate model than you can see from this render, I slimmed it down for my purposes by leaving out a lot of the features. The U-boats are by rjordan...excellent work in their own right and beautiful models as well. An S boat moored up for good measure from vanishing point, some wonderful props generously shared by Luis Tavares (Tryphon). And some Epici low poly maintenance dudes outfitted with some PoserWorld gear fills out the roster. (It looks really cold in there, but not as cold as the North Atlantic! It's good to be home.)
I used a bit of C4d version 6, PoserPro14 and 8, Vue6Infinite, and PS Cs3.

Man, this is like a photo. These fellows are lucky, for now. 3/4 of them never came home. I like the water work. Nice with the somewhat foggy atmosphere and the bright light from outside. A lot of work on this which has paid off well. Keep up the good work! :-)

Extremely well done render!

Nice what you have done here Bill and pleased to see that you went in with C4D and took the time to change the model a bit to achieve what you wanted in this composition. I always like when people take my models as a starting point and go from there. As always one of the things that catch my eye is your attention to the figures and the posing you do..always very real, natural and lifelike. I have a question for you which I will email you later today on this.
Considering making a Poser version of my new British T Class Vue model which I will look at tonight. Now that you have the Vue version..can't wait to see what you do with it. Barry, who I referenced you to on FB has done a few scenes underwater and even modeled depth charges and mines to use in the composition.

Nice attention to detail, it's the little things...I love the optimism of the guy with the fire extinguisher....if a torpedo 'goes up' the extinguisher is probably the only thing they'll find LoL!! Also the inclusion of the E-Boat, an often overlooked menace.... 10/10+

I am always amazed at how the scope of scale of ship models can be captured. Unlike my car and truck models where I stuck to before 1960, my ship models were made to include contemporary aircraft and helicopters where details of the radar dishes was my greatest challenge. I bought some recently published books from the US Naval Institute to fully understand ship models of both the wooden era and the steel and iron era. Business cards and tin cans was the surprise source of resources for hulls and plates.
