Description

"d' hie nykti eoikws." Teopolos murmured seeing JS descending the grand staircase leading to the Primal Cave. "What?" S-Anne asked. "'Gloomy he came as night.' Looking at him this ancient verse in the language of my ancestors came to mind. It is about Apollo's wrath in Homer's Iliad." "I think it fit." Joe agreed. The Primal Cave was an architectural marvel in itself. The Grays had opened immense vaults in the underground caverns and built a false firmament. Inside the vaults there were wide galleries, vast staircases and immense columned salons with walls decorated with large windows that let in either the artificial sunlight or moonlight. The illusion was perfect in the alternation of false days and nights. JS descended the staircase silent as a jaguar and just as deadly. His mind full open he scanned every recess, corner, closet, column and hole where a Gray might hide looking for intel on where Eve might be and one by one he sensed and put to death them all silently, both the brave and the craven. "Give it up, T9-F22." shouted Lady G-2 with the same annoyed voice with which she'd tell a dog "Down!". JS just curled his lips into a sneer and advanced. Bang! G-5, who had popped out from behind a column, was hit between his eyes. Bang! G-9, shot in the belly, crawled to the column from which he had jumped out. "Mercy," he murmured, but JS just shrugged. "Now we're just you and me, madam!" JS stated icily. "You fool scum! Soon my spaceships will come and you'll pray for a quick death!" Lady G-2 yelled, the great queen of the 104s. Fascinated, JS watched the jowls bobbing under the termagant's chin. Irresistibly attracted he grabbed her by the neck. "I'm bringing you good news: all your ships are confetti in the space near the jump point. Oh, I forgot, every Gray here but you was terminated." G-2 clung with her hands on his arm and the gold tip of her index nail guard scraped JS's suit scratching his arm. JS caught the flicker of triumph flashing in G-2's eyes: the ring was poisoned with the deadly venom of the Riki fish. "How did you destroy our fleet?" G-2 bemoaned waiting for the poison to work. "Using plasma cannons!" JS grinned answering her question literally. "Really did you destroy our entire fleet and the nobles here?" G-2 wailed. The cruel truth was making its way in her mind setting aside the satisfaction of having poisoned JS. "How could you! Do you realize our race has died out because of you?" "That was my ambition!" JS retorted. "Now you're the only one left, besides the ones who kidnapped Eve. Where's Eve?" "By what right do you made us extinct? Now nothing is left of our DNA, forever." G-2 cried. "You aren't extinct. There's your DNA in me, so the Gray DNA hasn't disappeared. There are also your slaves, we will help them." "Why the poison doesn't work yet?" G-2 thought. "He should begin to writhe on the ground henceforth, the bastard!" "Concerned because the poison doesn't work?"JS made a focused face. "Uh, no, I'm fine. I survived fishing Riki eggs on G-9 planet. I'm mithridatized to its venom." "How do you know... You're a telepath! How is it possible? Did we create you with this gift? I have to tell G-8." The excitement was such that G-2 had forgot about her situation. "Yeah, I'm telepath." JS replied. "Two telepaths! The door to immortality is open for us!" G-2 cried. "That door is closed for you, old hag. For the last time, where is Eve?" "I don't know and you'll never know. Your slaughter was useless!" G-2 shrilled. JS searched G-2's mind then broke her neck. It was true: G-2 didn't know where Eve was. None of those who had died on the planet had known, the only thing certain was that G-8 and other members of the 104s had sailed to unknown destination to conduct experiments and Eve, Flaw and 3TC were with them.
