Description

A poor shot as not only with my point and shoot on zoom handheld but through rather dirty double glazing. She is rather furtive and I was thrilled to get any record at all ! It''s quite rare to see these leucistic individuals, and this is the first in my garden for years. European blackbirds (Turdus merula) are in the same family as American robins (Turdus migratorius). Her other more showy side Here

What a catch!! You are lucky indeed to have caught this. I have started going out with a birding group here and they will be excited to see this.

Congratulations on the capture. Your complaints about the quality just highlight the fact that I know nothing about photography...I think it looks great.

A very lovely blackbird. We have alot of them here. Sometimes 7-8 at the same time, when I have thrown old apples for them. If not the roe deers got them first, that is :-P

The second image is sharper and both are a little dark but that can easily be fixed. How lucky you are. I have not seen a blackbird in decades. This well fed lady is quite photogenic.

Furtive is a good word for these birds; the female red-winged blackbirds are very hard to spot, and are always ducking into the reeds. Good shot considering the windows!
