The portrayal of evil (or less than good) as some kind of hideous monstrosity has always been a thorn in my side.

After all, it is said Lucifer (Satan) was the most beautiful angel in heaven... and I might be mistaken, but I don't recall God making him grotesque upon his expulsion from heaven.

It's much easier to entice souls to the "dark side" with beauty. For it is human nature to shun/fear/revile that which we find less than attractive... whether we admit it or not.
