Description

Unfortunately, another sad accident happened in our garden. The car stood close to the house with an open door and it seems, this lovely goldfinch bumped into it, thinking it could fly through the window. Per found it on the ground besides the car yesterday. It had been dead in maybe half an hour. We have had visit from a herd of these finches every day for many weeks and we have enjoyed to see them eat the food we give them. Today I saw something strange. A titmouse was jumping on the gound from the bird feeder to the bush, from the bush to a tree and to the next tree and so on. I realized it couldnt fly. I have never thought such a bird could jump so fast. Well, it was the matter of surviving, so I hope it will be well again, before my cats sees it. Have a beautiful day. We have a lovely and sunny weather. As Per said. "I dont mind that the meteorologists call this "RAIN" :-D

What a pretty little bird, I haven't seen them here. It's sad that he this happened to him. I hope the other little hopping bird is OK, maybe he was a fledgling and was just learning about how his wings work?

Beautiful photo (again) but so sad circumstances around it. In 1963 I saw a sparrow fly into a window, thinking it could fly through a house, and broke its neck against the window. I felt so sad for it. Today, on the way home, a pigeon flew into the front window of the car I was sitting in. As it was stopped, the bird only glanced off the top of the window and flew away. I came to think of your previous post. And now, sadly, here we are again.

Astounding capture, Helle, what with those colorful and varied feather patterns, on what is an otherwise unfortunate tragic situation. Such a beautiful bird, and hope you gave it a fine burial. Sun, wind, but no sign of rain on the horizon here.

Aww, Helle, I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to like this photo. But, you preserved to beautiful coloring of this poor little bird so well with these shots that I had to give it a like. Keeping my fingers crossed for the little hopping friend.

This sort of accident happens all too often at the school where I work. Birds will fly into the hall and then try and exit through the glass window...which is shut.
