after 7 years i'm finally getting around in adding some info on this page. never really thought about doing it. i have been a member here since July 15th 2006, and have learned alot from fellow artists. i would have about 1300 images or so posted but have deleated many of my first pieces. and still consider myself a developing artist at this wonderful site. i'm 56 years old this year "2013" and was born in North Dakota. i have lived in Colorado since 1967 and enjoy this place alot. my stepfather was in the air force and we lived in Bermuda after North Dakota for a few years before coming here where he got stationed.. and so much enjoy many of the finest artist in the world who post here.. love you all and your amazing friendships we share.. lol Steve

I read about your snowstorms in your gallery, and I'm glad you survived them, as your text here indicates. I know you drive for a living, and it can't be easy to tackle major storms---esp the kinds you get where you live---in big rigs, many times per winter. I hope you came out of the winter well. As for your "lack of creativity," this is a lot more expressive than you may have felt. This image has fewer mixed objects---one of your trademarks (ie, the great variety you achieve in the things you place in your images)---but it has a powerful mood, and your lighting is wonderful on that central woman, whose presence is brought out even more by her almost doll-like skin and here eyebrow-less eyes. And, as for those eyes, they seem near iris-less: Really well done. And you shaded her eyes well too: They look out at us from shadows.
I love her snake-filled hair (gotta be rough on her hairdresser), and her somewhat casual, almost "I dare you" pose. And the dark shadows all around her, which cover-over a wealth of snakes as well as that guy on the right with the sword. Let's put it this way: I wouldn't mind having him in a dark alley, as my guard; but I'm not sure I'd want him over for a holiday dinner. I'd be afraid for the guests...I like how he's lit just enough to make him seem very dangerous. A powerfully lit piece, and mysterious and organic. Well done, Steve. A total, successful mood.
