First off, I don't know oddment, but I hope he/she is ok, or is doing better now. This is a beautiful gift for your friend.
One can see your photographic sense in this (since you came to 3D from photography, accdg to your bio). The details and composition are photographic. But you've intensified the light and reflections, etc, to make it a photographic dream. The sky's yellows and reds are very powerful, and the deep green-blues in the water are a fine contrast, with a smooth glassy surface (which creates more peace). The boat has fine detail, and the sails look like pure silk; and you gave them a pale pink cast, which makes them a contemplative presence, more peace, right in the middle of the image. With a lone man on deck, it feels like a peaceful moment when the universe puts on its very best as if for this one person alone. And you've cropped the top, once again, by cutting off the sail (cutting off the top of something, at the top of your image), which, again, puts us right into the quiet and peaceful center. Beautifully done. I hope your fans are zooming all the way: Your work demands it: It unveils itself beautifully in full zoom...
