Description

This is my first trial to create a global virtual reality (VR) environment using Poser software. The scene can be view with VR Headset (Google cardboard, Samsung VR Gear, etc) or with Desktop computer. The image is a projection, named equirectangular, that represents a full sphere surrounding the camera. To view this type of projection, I use the free “TurnMe panorama” application. The links are: For Windows (Desktop computer): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/turnme-panorama/9wzdncrfhzbk For Android SmartPhone and headset: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bezine.panosphere I will release soon a tutorial to explain the steps to create this type of projection. A Python script will be included with the tutorial to automate the generation of the 62 images that compose the projection.

I've been wondering if VR was possible using poser. I'll have a look at it in my google cardboard once I get home and I look forward to your tutorial.

Allstereo,

How do you use this? I have a VR Gear Headset and would like to try it, but i thought you would have to have 2 side by side images (or one on top of the other depending on format)?

Thanks,

SAS3D (Rafael)

Hello,

If you use the VR devices with the appropriate software, the single image will be duplicated to have one image for each eye. With the Turn me panorama software that I suggested in the description, you select the cardboard icon Cardboard icon small.jpg to have the two images.
