The magic one might expect between a couple like this wasn't their destiny. The human male began to feel faint as his and the merboy's saliva mixed, their tongues darting and twirling in each other's mouths during their first passionate kiss. He collapsed into the arms of the merboy, and for a moment, the merboy was afraid that his newfound love was dying. As he held the man's body gently, he noticed that his legs pulled themselves together tightly. Scales began to form over his lower body, and then his feet blossomed into tail fins. Additional fins sprouted from his shoulders. The merboy held tight as he rolled himself and his partner toward the nearby shoreline, and dragged him into the sea. As soon as they were fully submerged, the formerly human hunk opened his mouth widely and "breathed" in his first breath of sea water. His eyes fluttered open, and he immediately embraced his new sea life. Following the merboy's telepathic messages, he swam side-by-side with him as they made their way toward their new home. As the two laid in their freshly harvested bed of seaweed, the merboy poured out his heart to his lover, admitting that he'd rolled himself onshore earlier that day, with the intent of ending his lonely existence. Merpeople being sea dwellers, they can exist outside of water for only a short period of time. Having been shunned by his family for not being attracted to mermaids, he felt it was the only honorable thing to do. Now that he had a merboy of his own to love, he looked forward to many years swimming side by side together.
