Wonderful deep-blacks, here, to balance out all the white (and the dashes of red, orange, gray, yellow, etc). This woman is painted in striking blacks...but she still appears very light and facile. Her legs are painted with great grace, you've let her clothes fly into the air like scarves. She has the stance and gaze of a very confident, intelligent person. And your free-hand stripes---on her blouse---are free and jazzy.

I love that you painted over one of her eyes---in whites---even though you left her eyebrow. And you surrounded her with quick, freehand backgrounds: Those leaves and branches and leaves...and a very spontaneous, jazzy tour Eiffel. I love the free spirit of them. And they're a real balance between her powerful presence and the airy, almost floating background behind her. Also, I see a dog here---yes? On her shoulder? Beautifully done. And you've placed her a little to the left of center, which gives grace and complexity to the painting. Beautiful work, Ives.
