Description
"Samhain is considered by many Pagans as the Witches New Year. It's the time of year for getting rid of weaknesses. It's common ritual for a Wiccan to write down her weakness on a piece of parchment and toss it into the Cauldron fire."

I love the differences in the three witches-- Offering in the middle, just about to relinquish on the right--so much concentration-- and finally given away on the left-- so much relief and strength. It tells the whole effort needed to actually do this magic. Blessed Be, Dear, for a great work and a great teaching.
Grendel

I find your work fascinating and your talents envigorating and inspirational to my own; one can learn so much about artistic merit just by viewing your outstanding visuals. Your art is the kind that one not only views for pleasure, but looks at again and again for all the substance and value within.

Actually Samhain (Brithonic Celtic - 'Summer's End) predates the New Age Wiccan movement and is the last day of the Celtic Year. For the Celts it did not fall on a specific date, as it is believed that ceremonies were calculated to the full moon. The modern day practise of dressing up in ghoulish costumes and making pumpkin lanterns is also derived from Celtic practises. The Celts venerated the head as the source of spiritual power and most historical authorities agree that Celtic people kept human heads for the purposes of divination, protection and inspiration. (See Mabinogion story 'Branwen daughter of Llyr') As for the ghosts and ghouls of modern day Halloween (or Hallowed Eve)the Celts believed that Samhain marked a point of closeness between the real tangible world and the spiritual 'Otherworld'. Samhain was a principle time for supposedly communing with the dead as the 'mantle' of other realities was believed to be stretched thing at this time.
