Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Quite wonderful set of pencils Andrea! I imagine that i KNOW what you feel:) Is not easy to begin using! ... I still want to have them forever:))) When i got the big box...i was in a UAU!!! But as it had graphite pencils too...it was more easy for me to begin, because i wanted to finish his drawing with them:) But still have them all--- and all the portraits i do, i do with them---Soon i will have to replace the graphite pencils. Not the others, nor the different crayons, that i also use, though not so much. I think that Koosie wanted us to use them in 'full time':) and lol, Andrea! OF COURSE that you will do them justice! I have seen that you do wonders with all kinds of stuff :))!

I broke my word and am commenting...only it will be in small bits, right off the bat. But I'll be doing a session in your gallery soon. I wanted to comment on this tonight, because of the attention we all just gave to koosie. He must've had a real love for art supplies in wooden boxes: Ana's were in those boxes too, as were mine. (I got beautiful soft crayons, I think Conte's, which I've barely done justice to, because I've not learned how to use them well.) (He also sent me his CD on the Book of Kells, because he knew how much I loved it.) These pencils are grand---I mean two tiers of them, with a huge range of hues, and they're watercolor? Does that mean you never use them dry? (I haven't used watercolor pencils in years, but I know Derwent is a very respected name.) Ana is right about your doing inspired things with these...I imagine as soon as you start something, you'll create some wonderful images, the kind Hans loved from you. And btw, as a picture, I love the repetition and "pipe organ pipes" look of it. It's great that you posted this; I think if Helle were online, she'd have posted something too. Martin, btw---I heard this from Ana---had another heart procedure; this one to prevent another heart attack. And he's recovering now, and I think he's doing well. We haven't seen his amazing art in an eon, and I thought you'd like to know how he's doing. Anyway, a wonderful way to show the world a little piece of Hans's personality. I never saw these before, and they're a great gift (and they look great). Thanks for this, Andrea.
