Description
An old washing machine from our tour of the Hughes house in Cape Blanco. I guess it was an improvement over beating your clothes with a stick down by the river...

I got a great smile from your closeup on the top of the washing machine, with your lighthouse and other things in the background. It opened up the photo for us. In this shot, we see the concreteness of the room, and the room behind it. You have a patina here, it looks like a little softness and a slight glow; and it's just right for the scene. I like that you included something on the far right (a cloth something-or-other? the end of an ironing board?). If this were just of the white wall and what's in front of it, that would make this almost an abstract. The room on the left is beautiful to see from here, esp with its hues. And the white is stark, and, to me, just right. Amazing that this washer was, one day, considered new and advanced (over beating clothes on rocks, as you say). It would be old even when I was a child, when my mother still had washing boards. Very sweet photo.
