Description

A Japanese style pond & garden located at Shore Acres State Park, most of which occupies land that once belonged to a timber baron named Louis Simpson. Those birds in the background are metal statues & my next post has a closer view of them... Please zoom.

As usual you have created a gorgeous photo, The beautiful reflections and a wonderful pop of color on the left draw the eye into the scene.

Don't be offended, Claude, but the saturation is a bit too much for my taste in this one! A perfect composition, though.

I appreciate Andrea's comment (about the high saturation), but being a long-standing fan of your vision with photography, it feels like a pure Claude shot. You have a number of ways of approaching a photograph, but this way involves bringing out several hues (or hue groups) in almost equal intensity, and you're one of a handful of photographers who do it with great power and poetry. It has an almost painterly feeling, even though it's entirely photographic. Part of what makes it sing is the composition, with the pond seeming to wind its way back, thus taking us back on a circuitous journey---even though it may not be winding as much as it appears, as the jutting rocks and trees create a number of the contours. And your pov and light bring out the constant see-saw of overhanging branches, flowers, rocks, etc, as they jut across the water. The water is mirror-like for the 'centerpiece'. And the light in the back (with a near white sky) keeps drawing us back (as the greatest amt of shadow is in front). Beautiful. Yes, heavy on the saturation---either from your camera or your postwork---but to me, it's part of the vision, and it's beautiful.

(do you think the metal birds back there are saying, "s__t, this place is real...")
