Description
Haven't done one of these in aeons.
This time a Dodge Calibre SXT taillight, captured 7/23/15 @ 8:50 am, I don't recall where.
Contrast was increased to bring out the definition of its beauty.

Hmmm.... James Bond machine gun or rocket launcher? I sure remember those! As a youngster, anything James Bondish was extra cool, and these sure fit the bill! Great job - brings out the details. And sure helps with a clean glass vover! Keep up the good work! :-)

You know, you, more than anyone else I know, have made a whole pageant of these otherworldly sights, and I never really noticed them until I saw them through your eyes. I have never, ever learned why they construct these lights this way: I'm sure it's for function, but when we see them "as art," they just look like some wild fancy of the designer. Like, someone said, "hey kid, go for it!" And he or she did. It's like a pile of silver bullets on top and bottom. Or flasks. Or lighters. Or spark plugs. And then the center has some real lights, only with those quilted reflectors all over. And then the red parts. And it's all exposed as if the designers wanted everyone to see their handy work. (Like "skeleton" watches---you know what I mean? The watch faces which show the inner gears of the watch...) All in all, I'm sure it adds up to a very bright light, which is necessary for safety and such. But design-wise, it's just something from another planet. And your shots bring home their weirdness, their futuristic pile-up of forms, and their gaudy neon art deco (I'm runnin' out of adjectives here) appearance, like they were made for a 1970s pop and op art show at MoMA in NYC. Wonderful addition to your long series of these, eye candy as always. And good to see them back in your gallery too...

Wow, THIS is a tail light of all tail lights!! I'd love to see how it looks when it's lit!!

I think for it to REALLY be cool those little things should be gun barrels! ("You wanna tailgate me, sucker? I'll show you...."!!!) What an amazing piece of engineering that is, and a fantastic shot.
